Benefits of laughter

This is now well understood and explained by modern medicine and physiology and studies show that people who laugh more are healthier, sleep better, live longer, have better relationships and make better decisions.

Today more people than ever are looking for natural health remedies that are effective and inexpensive and yet they have overlooked one of the best medicines available that is safe and has no side effects!  What are some of the benefits of laughter?

There are many proven benefits including improving cardiac health and reducing blood pressure, lowering stress hormone levels, as well as strengthening the immune system by boosting the body’s T-cells and easing chronic pain by releasing endorphins that are the body’s natural pain killers. In fact many hospitals and clinics now employ and train staff to improve the recovery and well-being of patients suffering mental, emotional and physical illnesses.  Medical research shows that cheerful staff and carers have been proven to improve patient outcomes dramatically.

Countless people in our communities are weighed down by health problems, disappointments, negativity, anxiety and fears.  They have lost the joy of living and forgotten how to laugh, to have fun, yet there is a remedy available if we care to tap into it. God has given us everything we need to help us live healthy and whole and happy lives. Paul wrote in Philippians 4: 13 “I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.”

Don’t get so caught up in the pressures and demands of life.  Have fun. Laugh. Make it a priority.  Lighten up! Every time you laugh you get, stronger, healthier, younger!  Someone once said:

“We don’t stop laughing because we are growing old.  We get old because we stop laughing.”

Just one other thing!  One of the benefits of a good regular ‘belly laugh’ is that it can help you tone your abs!
